Principles of Dismantling Process

      In general, A detail drawing is one, which describes a single part, or several parts individually for eg. to manufacture a machine, individual parts comprising the machine have to be produced first, for which part drawing are needed. These details drawings of the separate parts are made from the assembly drawing.

The details drawing should furnish complete information, according to standard conventions, regarding shape and size of each individual part along with other specification necessary for the purpose of manufacturing the part. Such a drawing usually carries following information:

(a) Size and shape description with minimum possible number of orthographic views. 

(b) Special sections or auxiliary or pictorial views, if necessary.

(c) Through dimensions, 

(d) Material

(e) Surface finish grade 

(f) Number of parts required, etc.

    Before making part drawings, the student must first read the assembly drawing carefully, visualizing the shape of individual parts. Here the students will be given a assembly drawings from which they will be asked to make apart or detail drawings.

      To draw detail drawings, following steps to be followed. Which we consider planning step: 

(i) Read and understand the assembly drawing with the help of part list and different orthographic views of the assembly drawing. 

(ii) Try to understand functional aspect of the assembly unit as a whole, this will help to understand the arrangement of the parts.

(iii) Visualise the size and shape of the individual parts. 

(iv) Choose the scale for the drawing. As for as possible use full scale for the drawing. For small parts, use enlarged scale. 

(v) Decide the number of views for each part to describe them completely.

(vi) Draw the views of each part. In general, the front view must provide maximum information of the part.

The front view is the main view.

To draw the views of each part, the under mention sequence may be followed: 

(i) Draw the main centre lines and make outline blocks. Use 2H pencil.

(ii) Draw the main circles and ares with softlead.

(iii) Draw main outlines and then add all internal features. 

(iv) Draw hatching lines in the sectional views.

(v) Give the dimensions, and check the dimensions of a mating parts.

(vi) Prepare the part list and add the title block.
